PROGRAM DETAILS: The summer program is an opportunity for high school students to explore career paths within Sports Medicine including Athletic Training, Orthopedics, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Physical Therapy. Students will interact with leading medical professionals and gain observational experiences across multiple specialties.
In addition to completing short answer responses, the student is responsible for uploading a copy of their resume and most recent school transcripts. An unofficial copy is acceptable.
LOCATION: This Program will be offered in multiple Ochsner regions including: New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Meridian, MS. Students will be able to select their preferred program location upon completing the application.
ELIGIBILITY
Student must be current 10th, 11th, or 12th graders. Students must be 16+ years old by the start of the program Interest in Health Sciences Available for full duration of program for one week in the middle of July.

Athletic training: Shadow a high school or university athletic trainer on-site at the school treating athletes as injuries happen and pre-existing injuries.
Sports Clinic: Shadow a sports medicine physician and staff treating patients in the clinical setting.
Physician Assistant: Shadow a Sports Medicine Physician Assistant and their staff as they treat patients in the clinical setting.
Physical Therapy: Shadow shadowing a physical therapist rehabilitating patients in various stages of injury.
Performance training: Shadow a sports performance coach training athletes in multiple ways including weight training, proprioception, and speed.
